This product is partially funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) through its Office of Research and Development and its Office of Brownfields Cleanup and Redevelopment. It is being developed collaboratively with the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (Bundesministerium Für Bildung und Forschung [BMBF]) and the Interstate Technology Regulatory Council (ITRC). By entering this Internet site and using SMARTe, I agree to these conditions of use. In particular, I understand that:
- SMARTe is currently under development. The current version is available so that users can test it and provide feedback while new information, data, tools, and functionality are added. Although the information, data, and tools were peer reviewed and satisfied the requirements of the Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) prior to its annual release, the product could have errors and omissions and might not always function as intended.
- SMARTe is a decision analysis and decision support tool that supports evaluation of alternative land reuse scenarios. It does not make decisions; it informs the decision makers by providing insights into the complexities of a revitalization and reuse project. SMARTe does not take the place of professional technical experts or project teams engaged in land revitalization projects, but provides information to help project teams make land reuse decisions.
- Some analysis tools require technical knowledge. Use of the tools without assistance from a technical expert could lead to misinterpretation of results.
- The information and data presented in this product were obtained from sources that are believed to be reliable. However, in many cases the quality of the information or data was not documented by those sources; therefore, no claim is made regarding their quality.
- The Agency’s cooperation in the development of SMARTe, the appearance of external links within SMARTe, and the mention of trade names or commercial products, processes, or services does not constitute or imply endorsement or recommendation by the U.S. EPA, its contractors, the BMBF, or the ITRC. SMARTe may provide examples of commercial products, processes, or services; however, additional sources of commercial products, processes, or services can often be located using a simple internet search. Users are encouraged to search for additional sources of products/processes/services outside of SMARTe.
- With respect to the information, data, tools, and/or functionality available through SMARTe, neither the U.S. Government nor any federal employees, nor its contractors and their employees, nor BMBF and its employees, nor ITRC and its employees, make any warranty, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose; nor assume any legal liability or responsibility for the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any information, data, tools, and/or functionality available through SMARTe; nor represent that the use of any information, data, tools, and/or functionality available through SMARTe may not infringe privately owned rights.
- The U.S. EPA does not guarantee that this product is free from viruses. The U.S. EPA does not routinely provide user support, systems documentation, or periodic updates to users.
Users are strongly encouraged to report any errors found in the product, including inactive URLs
